Scene 1

The stage is black.

A spotlight appears and shines up stage left upon the READER.

READER:
The Stone Arch Players Theatre Camp is proud to perform
for you, from the imagination of Dane Ufema, The
Luckiest Leprechauns. So sit back and enjoy the show!
We are outside. It's dark. A small tent with a
burned out campfire is sitting on the ground up
stage right. A storm rumbles. We see flashes of
lightning.

READER:
Well this certainly wasn't what our campers were hoping
for…

CAMPER #1:
(from inside the tent)
Oh man! I should have known this was going to happen. I
am NEVER going camping again!

CAMPER #2:
Yeah! We have the worst luck ever!
Suddenly the rain stops. The sun comes out.

READER:
But did they? The rain had finally stopped after two
long days. And thank goodness! The campers had grown
tired of playing Tiddlywinks. Ahhh - who am I kidding.
The battery on their IPads had just run out.

CAMPER #1 come out of the tent stretching
their arms.

CAMPER #1:
What a relief! One more minute cooped up in there and I
would have lost it!

CAMPER #2:
Me too. I could've sworn there were other people
running around out here. I think I was starting to hear
things!

READER:
Or was she…
The lights come up on a 'double rainbow' that sits
at the back of the stage.

CAMPER #1:
Holy cow! It's a rainbow!

CAMPER #2:
Not just a rainbow… A DOUBLE rainbow!

READER:
The campers were mesmerized by it's beauty. They
couldn't believe their eyes.

CAMPER #1:
That has to be the the most spectacular thing I've ever seen!

CAMPER #2:
What could be more amazing than that???

READER:
Well, she had to ask!

LEPRECHAUN #9:
(springs up from behind the rainbow
holding a pot of gold)
But it's ours I say!

LEPRECHAUN #1:
(springing up and pointing at his chest)
Ohhh no it's not! It's ours!

LEPRECHAUN #1 runs down the side of the rainbow
clutching the pot of gold.

LEPRECHAUN #9 chases after him.

ALL THE OTHER LEPRECHAUNS emerge from either side
of the rainbow. LEPRECHAUNS #2-#8 come to the aide
and side of LEPRECHAUN #1 and LEPRECHAUNS #10-#17
come to the aide and side of LEPRECHAUN #9.

LEPRECHAUN #1:
I say it's ours!

LEPRECHAUN #9:
And I say it's ours!

LEPRECHAUN #2:
(runs in between them and grabs the pot
of gold from LEPRECHAUN #9)
Oh no you don't! It's ours!

LEPRECHAUN #1 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'. A tug-o-war ensues.
LEPRECHAUNS #9-17:
No! Ours!
LEPRECHAUN #9 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'.

LEPRECHAUNS #2-#8:
No ours!
LEPRECHAUN #1 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'.

LEPRECHAUNS #9-#17:
No Ours!

LEPRECHAUN #9 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'.

LEPRECHAUNS #2-#8:
No ours!
LEPRECHAUN #1 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'.

LEPRECHAUNS #9-#17:
Ours!

LEPRECHAUN #9 turns the pot and LEPRECHAUN #2
towards his 'side'.

LEPRECHAUNS #2-#8:
Ours!

You can hear the sound of a record scratching and
everything goes silent. The LEPRECHAUNS and
CAMPERS freeze in their tracks.

READER:
Whoa, whoa, whoa! WHAT is going on here??? I mean,
isn't anyone going to jump in and break this up???

The record screeches again and the action/fighting
resumes.
