Scene 1

'Sincerely A Homosexual Hazard'

Introduction
This scene has five characters named: MARCO, JAYSON, HARLEY, FRANKIE and JOHNNY. Each character is talking about their experiences being an openly Gay man to the audience.

“Sincerely A Homosexual Hazard”

(lights on)

MARCO: (enters) My name is Marco. I am not a burden, a disgrace or an abomination! I am not a disease you catch solely by hanging out with me! I am not interested in a Heterosexual man’s sex life, body or his business.

JAYSON: I am Jayson and I am not a joke. I am a warrior and you will never dim my shine!

HARLEY: (enters) My name’s Harley and I am not your punching bag because you’re insecure. I am not a victim, I am a survivor and I refuse to let you break me down.

FRANKIE: (enters) Name is Frankie and I am not going to Hell because I choose to live my life. I am not going to listen to a group of people who holds a bible in one hand and use their other hand to hide their sins. I am not going to change because someone doesn’t accept me. I accept me and that’s all that matters!

JOHNNY: (enters) My name is Johnny and I am not a toy you can play with whenever you get bored then put me back on the shelf when you’re done. I am not a piece of meat. I am a human being!

MARCO: If you can’t accept me being me, then leave! I won’t be hurt.

JAYSON: If you can’t accept my smile, confidence and poise then look the other way, I’m not hurting you by living my life.

HARLEY: If you can’t accept me or my pizzazz then you can leave. I promise I won’t cry. (beat) I have too much going on in my life to waste a tear.

FRANKIE: If you can’t accept me then lose my name and number. I refuse to associate myself with hypocrites and bigots.

JOHNNY: If you can’t accept me, my heart, my emotions or my views, then leave and never look back. I’ll live.

MARCO: Sincerely a-

JAYSON: Sincerely a-

HARLEY: Sincerely a-

FRANKIE: Sincerely a-

JOHNNY: Sincerely a-

ALL: --A Homosexual Hazard?

SCENE 2

'Wave My Flag!'

Introduction
In this monologue, MARCO is speaking to the audience about how he proudly waves the Rainbow flag because he’s proud of being Gay.

“Wave My Flag!”

(Lights on)

MARCO: (is holding the Rainbow flag in his hands) I wave this flag not because I want special privileges. I wave this flag because I refuse to be treated as if I’m an Alien from outer space. An Alien temporarily on this planet so my voice, views and concerns shouldn’t be taken seriously. I pay taxes and most importantly, I don’t commit crimes!

What you’re not going to do is stand there and pretend that my life doesn’t matter. That I don’t exist! I am Gay and I am here to stay.

Say it with me, (has the audience repeat this with him), I am Gay and I am here to stay.

(beat)

I have no interest in turning Straight men Gay, I don’t want to brainwash your children and I’m not the Devil. I’m not asking you for handouts! All I’m asking is for you to mind your own damn business when I walk through the streets holding my boyfriend’s hand.

I don’t want to hear how your God feels about me, because Hell will not get me. I’m not a murderer. I’m not an adulterer. I’m not a rapist, a terrorist, a liar and I don’t worship false idols; so I know I’m not going to Hell. I have love in my heart and love for my creator.

(beat)

You’re quick to paint us as the villains, but you seem to forget that we were attacked on June 12th, 2016. That we lost 49 innocent people who didn’t deserve to die and why did we lose them? Because of an ignorant bigot. A coward who couldn’t understand that we are people and all we want to do is live in this world equal to our Heterosexual brothers and sisters. What we do in the comfort of our own privacy shouldn’t matter to you. We have leaders on pedestals telling us we’re sinning, while they’re having sex with men in their offices!

(beat)

This flag isn’t a sign of division. It isn’t a sign of sin. It’s a sign of love and unity of a community that will never back down!

Lights Fade.
