Synopsis

The Last At Bat

David L. Elkind

Published by Cyberpress

9 Male 1 Female

The Cyclones meet to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their stirring World Series triumph

The celebration turns acrimonious when several players voice long-standing complaints about the team’s collapse the next year, one pitcher describes the difficulty he faced in deciding whether to come out to the team, and the bat girl discusses the harassment that she suffered

The rancor threatens to ruin the evening, until the team’s best player and captain, who is confined to a wheelchair as he battles Lou Gehrig’s disease, devises a plan that he hopes will turn the players into a team again
