A German war criminal becomes a Catholic priest seeking to help troubled youth in New York's Lower East Side overcome their hatreds and violence and is tracked down by a Nazi war criminal hunter who wishes to bring him to trial

He agrees to go, but not before he shows her what he is trying to do - which is to instill the concept of forgiveness as a way to forestall violence and - by extension because of the teachings of Christianity -- anti-Semitism
