Middle-aged Bruin and Caroleena, twin daughters Delta and Delia, await the homecoming of their son and brother, Leavell

Devout Delta walks out into the sweltering southern summer evening and vanishes

Leavell arrives and the family mounts an exhaustive search

Finally, Leavell finds her body in a remote area, dead from a brutal stabbing

The family soon learns massive Hurricane Delta travels north threatening the town

Ordered to evacuate, the grief-stricken parents believe the spirit of their daughter has returned in the hurricane and they refuse to leave

Only Leavell can convince them this is madness
