Synopsis

Give Me Freedom

John Chandler

Published by Cyberpress

2 Male 0 Female

John Milton, old, blind and in prison for his role in the Puritan Revolution and for writing the justification for the trial and execution of King Charles I, is dictating his epic poem, Paradise Lost, to the younger poet Andrew Marvell

Marvel's goal is to get the great poet released from prison, but Milton insists on making Satan, the principle character in his work, justified in his failed attempt to overthrow the king of kings

Milton's paradox: If he remains in prison he is free to say and write what he believes, but if he is released, what he believes or questions will lead to his being sent back to jail or even his execution
