Thirty years after the Vietnam war, Wei Chan, a young dissident Hong Kong publisher, appears on the doorstep of San Francisco mystery writer and veteran, Taylor Munroe, claiming to be his son

Wei fled before the Chinese takeover and he has his mother in tow to arrange a marriage between Ming and Taylor

Taylor gave up trying to find the Chinese girl he spent a magical night with in Hong Kong decades ago, and has never forgotten her

But he already has a wife ...

Bui-Doi is the 3rd play of David Christner's Vietnam trilogy and won the Bronze Medal in the Pinter Review Prize for Drama competition
