A Quarrel of Sparrows

A young playwright with an Off Broadway hit is about to sign a lucrative film deal for his play that includes giving his actress wife, who starred in the play until she became too pregnant to continue, the lead in the movie version

An angel appears to him in broad daylight while he is walking along Fifth Avenue. The vision makes Paul feel that maybe he shouldn't sell out to crass commercial filmdom

This causes great consternation for his wife, who sees her chance at stardom about to evaporate along with her marriage in a lunatic religious haze, and for Paul's agent who has never had a client with this kind of problem

The play takes place at the home of an elderly family friend to whom Paul has turned for advice, but the delightful old curmudgeon refuses to make Paul's decision for him
