Presenting 50 school exercises, selected and reconstructed from the notations of Hans Beck (Bournonville's successor) which he made in 1893, and are preserved in the Copenhagen Theatre Museum

These exercises reveal not only how Bournonville's dance style and technique was directly inherited from the great French dancer and techer, August Vestris, but also offer a remarkably authentic reconstruction of the original form and content of the Bournonville classes as they were practised a century ago
