Breakfast
by Zipporah Porton
Breakfast is composed of seven separate scenes, each occurring on a different
morning at the same Los Angeles eatery
In the manner of La Ronde, each scene is a
revealing conversation between two characters - one new & one from the previous scene -
and the focus is on relationships
(gay, straight, friends, lovers), the entertainment business, and especially about being young
and confused in Los Angeles
You can read, print or download the opening scenes by clicking here
Zipporah Porton is currently Story Editor at Stan Winston Productions in Hollywood, CA.
She was born and raised in Champaign, Illinois and lived there until the age of 17 when she
moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University. In St. Louis, Zipporah majored in Art
History and Film. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and hasn't looked back.
Zipporah has been writing for as long as she can remember. The most important event in her
writing career occurred in her senior year of high school when her play The Wordless Skye
was chosen to be produced by the students. Zipporah wrote and directed the three act play
that also won a national playwriting contest. In college, Zipporah turned to writing
screenplays. She completed three full length screenplays, and wrote and directed a short
film entitled Just Passing Through. Also in college, Zipporah co-wrote a play that was
performed by her sorority and a fraternity for the yearly carnival.
Since moving to California, Zipporah has focused more of her attention on development work and
has put writing on the backburner. Breakfast is a work very close to her heart because it
illustrates some of her disillusionment towards the "Hollywood Scene".
Breakfast is published by Millennium Plays in a Volume entitled
